About Us

Since its founding in 2022, the MONK Ensemble has performed at numerous festivals and concerts, including the ARLEMM Festival in Arilje, the BLISS Festival in Gornji Milanovac, Kaleidoskop kulture in Novi Sad, and the MetaWorld Festival in Belgrade.

Notable performances include collaborations with the NEUT dance ensemble and the premiere of the instrumental-dance performance 1002 Nights at the Kondenz Festival, as well as concerts at the Artget Gallery and the Cultural Center in Bor. Among the most significant appearances are concerts as part of the Radio Belgrade 2 Young Season at UK “Gvarnerius,” the Belgrade Promenade at Kolarac Endowment, a concert at the Cultural Center in Pančevo, and the opening of the Kultura na ulice! Festival at the National Theatre in Sarajevo.

Born in 1997, he began his musical education at the “Jovan Bandur” Music School in Pančevo and completed primary and secondary studies under Prof. Kiš Šamu. He studies clarinet at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade with Dr. Ognjen Popović, completing both undergraduate and master studies. He has won numerous awards at international competitions, including Drvenih Duvača in Požarevac, Davorin Jenko in Belgrade, and Laureate for Wind Instruments in Skopje. Co-founder of the “Smart Glamp” camp for young clarinetists, since 2021 he has been a clarinet teacher at MŠ "Vatroslav Lisinski" in Belgrade and an honorary collaborator with the Belgrade Philharmonic and several orchestras, working with conductors such as Gabriel Feltz, Daniel Raiskin, Isaac Karabtchevsky, and Colin Metters.

He is a member of the Belgrade Philharmonic, No Borders Orchestra, and the Metamorphosis Ensemble, with whom he recorded the album Music for Missing Butterflies and performed at festivals in Germany and Italy. He has collaborated with conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Neeme Järvi, and Gabriel Feltz, as well as soloists including Lang Lang, Pinchas Zukerman, Gidon Kremer, Nikolai Lugansky, Kian Soltani and many others. He has appeared at BEMUS, NOMUS, the Maribor Festival, Kustendorf Festival, Jazz in Marsiac, and numerous other international projects. He has performed in prestigious venues such as the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, La Scala in Milan, the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, and Strathmore Hall in Washington, D.C.

Born in 2001 in Belgrade, he is pursuing specialist studies at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade under Prof. Vladimir Milošević and master studies at the Music Academy in Zagreb with Ruben Dalibaltayan. He has won numerous national and international awards, including Piano Talents in Milan and Mihajlo Vukdragović. He has performed at Kolarac Endowment, the Student Cultural Center, SANU Gallery, ARTGET Gallery, and other venues, held solo recitals, and received awards for best graduation concert interpretation and best performance of a Chopin composition in 2019. He studied with renowned pianists such as Yuri Kot, Jacques Rouvier, Andreas Froelich, and others.

Artistic Focus

The ensemble is artistically focused on performing modern, applied, postmodern, and world music. Its mission is to present contemporary art music through influences from dance, jazz, and ethnic traditions, to inspire a new generation of composers to write works for this type of ensemble, and to foster collaborations with artists from other disciplines, including actors, dancers, visual artists, and more.
